Guido Demarco

Director – Head of Legal Assets

Guido leads the Legal Assets team at Stonward, overseeing the initiation, assessment, and progression of commercial litigation, international arbitration, and insolvency and competition-related claims. He brings strong expertise in debt restructuring, non-performing loans (NPLs), and the management of legal, banking, and financial projects.

Before joining Stonward, he served as Legal Counsel at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, working closely with governments and major stakeholders on cross-border transactions. His projects included the design of NPL markets in Kazakhstan, advising on high-value acquisitions, and training judges in Armenia.

Armando Betancor

Senior Advisor

With more than 30 years of experience in commercial law, Armando Betancor has advised hundreds of companies in insolvency and restructuring proceedings, both nationally and internationally. A specialist in complex insolvencies, he has facilitated capital raising for a wide range of litigation and strategic initiatives, working in collaboration with law firms and funders across major financial markets.

His practice spans individual and collective claims, portfolio financing, and transactions backed by legal assets. At Stonward, Armando contributes his extensive international network and expertise in structuring and executing high-impact legal transactions.

Chris Garvey

Senior Legal Consultant

Qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales since 1997, and as an attorney in the State of New York since 2000, Chris has built a distinguished career as a corporate lawyer at leading firms such as Mishcon de Reya and Dentons, working in London, Tokyo, and Istanbul. His expertise spans international corporate advisory work, financing, and the resolution of complex disputes.

At Stonward, Chris contributes a global and strategic perspective to the development of legal assets and the establishment of partnerships with law firms and funders specialising in key international markets.

Eduardo Frutos

Legal Counsel

Specialised in M&A transactions, Eduardo has led large-scale antitrust claims. He has built his career as a speaker at academic forums and through contributions to specialist publications. His profile combines a solid legal background with practical experience in corporate law, enabling him to provide Stonward with rigorous and up-to-date advice on legal and corporate matters. He holds a Law degree and a diploma in International Relations from Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (ICADE), and a Master’s in Business Law from Centro de Estudios Garrigues.

Rodrigo Olivares-Caminal

Senior Advisor

With over 20 years of professional experience, Rodrigo Olivares-Caminal is Professor of Banking and Financial Law at Queen Mary University of London and an international consultant for multilateral organisations, central banks, and sovereign states. Specialised in financial law and the resolution of banking and sovereign debt crises, he has advised creditors, guided regulatory reforms, and served as a senior insolvency expert for institutions such as the World Bank, the European Central Bank, and the African Legal Support Facility, among others.

Joaquín Pani

Senior Advisor

Joaquín Pani has a 20-year professional career in the legal sector, specialising in M&A, corporate and commercial law, as well as real estate and financial transactions. He has developed his career at leading law firms in Mexico and has headed the legal practice of major business groups and financial institutions.

He advises domestic and international clients on investment structuring, real estate projects, and financial regulation. In addition, he is a Professor of Law at Universidad Panamericana and works closely with Stonward as a Senior Advisor in Mexico, focusing on business development and the identification of strategic opportunities in the market.
